He auditioned for any available roles while working as a model to fund himself in this city. The actor secured a guest appearance on Judging Amy. In search of a better opportunity, he entered a nationwide search for a new face to represent Superman or Clark Kent, the famed DC Comics superhero. Welling luckily got the part to bring Smallville to the small screen. Even though he had little acting experience, he displayed a superb interpretation of his role, letting the show experience a significant success across the country.
