Yara Shahidi | Interdisciplinary Sociology And African American Studies

 

Born February 10, 2000, Yara Shahidi began her career in the entertainment industry when she was six years old, appearing in commercials and advertisements for Ralph Lauren, Target, McDonald’s, and Disney. Not long after, she finally made her film debut in 2009. It was for that year’s Imagine That, starring Eddie Murphy.

Afterward, Shahidi continued her career with a minor part in the 2010 film Salt, though she landed a more prominent role in TV series The First Family. Nowadays, the actress is most known for her performance in the TV show Black-ish, its spin-off Grown-ish, and the 2019 movie The Sun Is Also a Star. Outside the spotlight, she is also dedicating time to her studies. After years of taking online classes, Shahidi finally finished high school at Dwight Global Online School in 2017. By 2018, she continued her educational journey by enrolling at Harvard University, where she is taking up African American Studies and Interdisciplinary Sociology.
