Lionel Richie | Economics

The music industry is undoubtedly filled with talented figures. Of course, one of them is Lionel Richie. Born on June 20, 1949, Richie proved to be quite a skilled fellow even in his younger years. Throughout high school, he established himself as a star tennis player. Thanks to that, he eventually went to Tuskegee Institute under a tennis scholarship – he finished his studies with a major in economics.

For his start, Richie played with The Commodores. As the band’s saxophonist and singer, The Commodores eventually gained the public’s attention with hit records like Brick House and Machine Gun. The singer parted ways with the band a few years later and continued his career as a solo artist. Since then, he has had numerous achievements to his credit. Along with collaborating with singers like Kenny Rogers and Diana Ross, Richie also had the chance to co-write with Michael Jackson one of music’s timeless hits. We Are the World.
