Rebel Wilson | Theatre and Performance Studies
Born as Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson, Rebel Wilson made us laugh our butts off with her slapstick and witty acting in movies and TV series such as Bachelorette and Super Fun Night. A native of New South Wales, Australia, she had quite a unique childhood being the daughter of parents who are dog handlers. Wilson grew up with two sisters, Liberty and Annachi, and a brother named Ryot—they seem to have had rather notable names. Growing up, she stated that she was aloof as a child; this distance from other people had allowed her to observe them deeply, which developed her skills as a comedian.
If she failed as an actress, Wilson had a backup plan: practice law. Before she became a full-time comedian, she had been poring over law books and cases, a sight quite unusual to visualize. On top of her law degree, she also finished taking up Theatre and Performance Studies.
