Born James Hugh Laurie, his role as the exceptional Dr. Gregory House has propelled him to stardom. As the son of a general practitioner, this has perhaps helped him internalize his role effectively as a physician in the top medical series House. He excellently shadowed his British accent with his American accent convincing people that the latter was his natural accent. This ultimate feat in the show secured him two Golden Globes.
The famous Dr. House studied archeology and anthropology in Cambridge, where he garnered third-class honors. Laurie was also involved with the university’s rowing team, a sport he had in common with his father credited with an Olympic gold medal back in 1948. Not only that, but he is also a brilliant musician; he eventually had a prowess for percussive instruments and became a member of a celebrity band.
