Mara Wilson | Arts

Mara Elizabeth Wilson, commonly known as Mara Wilson, is one of the industry’s self-made actresses—her desire for acting has been inherent since she was a child, but her parents were quite unsupportive. This did not hold her back. Mara tried her luck in commercials; eventually, she auditioned for Mrs. Doubtfire. Years after her debut, the actress had lead roles in Matilda and Thomas and the Magic Railroad. After retiring from acting, the actress found herself immersed in writing. In 2013, she wrote Sheeple which was produced for the New York International Fringe Festival. She has also written Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame, published in 2016.

When Wilson relocated to New York City, she pursued an Arts degree at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and graduated in 2009. It is worth noting that despite her university schedule, she still found time to star in her show Weren’t You That Girl?
