Patricia Rooney Mara, commonly known as Rooney Mara, is one of Hollywood’s most underrated actresses. Mara had her first film in 2005 and had been in several more films, including Nightmare on Elm Street and The Social Network. The actress is also cast in Stieg Larsson’s film adaption of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

As a student, Mara was always the curious and adventurous one. After she finished high school, Mara flew to Peru and Bolivia for four months to participate in Travelling School. When she returned, the actress acquired a degree in psychology and international social policy and nonprofits from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Aside from acting, Mara is known to take part in humanitarian work. Her charity is mainly focused on Kibera, Nairobi. She primarily works with orphans from the slums of Nairobi.
