Sigourney Weaver | Master of Fine Arts

Sigourney Weaver is widely considered a pioneer of action heroines in sci-fi films and notable for playing the character of Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise, in which she was credited with an Academy Award nomination. Weaver is also regarded as one of the most significant female protagonists in cinema history. In 1988, she became the first person to win two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress that same year for her performance in the films Working Girl and Gorillas in the Mist. Other films which Weaver starred in include The Ice Storm, Ghostbusters, Galaxy Queen, Avatar, Paul, and A Monster Calls, among many.

In 1971, the Alien star graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in Literature. While studying at Stanford, Weaver realized her passion for acting and later attended a well-known drama program at Yale University, eventually obtaining her masters in acting.
