Brian May | Mathematics and Physics

Along with Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor, Brian May is one of the founders of the band Queen. As we know, Queen has become one of the well-loved bands in history. It is primarily associated with the single “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which has been a classic. The brains behind many of the songs of the band, like We Will Rock You, Hammer to Fall, and The Show Must Go On, is none other than May.

Now, who says that musicians cannot be academics, too? May is a graduate of mathematics, physics and has since been an astrophysicist. He is also a university administrator. The singer had to make a decision in 1974 when Queen was achieving commercial success—continue his doctoral degree or pursue his musical career. We know the answer to that question, and of course, we credit May for all the efforts he made. Even then, he has co-authored peer-reviewed articles, which makes him awesome!
