Danica McKellar | Mathematics

Actress and education advocate Danica McKellar played Winnie Cooper in the TV series The Wonder Years, which aired from 1988 to 1993. Her prominence rose during this time, and she snatched more projects, including voicing Miss Martian in the superhero series Young Justice. In addition to acting, McKellar is also a gifted writer, authoring six non-fiction books, all of which are Math related. She wanted girls to have confidence in the subject, and as a graduate herself, she was in the best position to make that advocacy.

Her passion for Math began when she was still taking the course in college. She made investments in making sure she has good grades, and despite that, the mathematician was surprised that she graduated summa cum laude from UCLA in 1998. McKellar took time off from acting back in 1993 to pursue this passion, and her professors noticed her right away. One even asked her to co-author a paper now called the Chayes–McKellar–Winn theorem.
